Living on the beach, in the tropics, close to world class waves. Warm water, boardies. Dawnies (dawn patrol), a dip in the pool, a tropical fruit breakfast, the start of another perfect day!
It’s the dream, and it’s possible. But most surfers, despite wanting it, longing for it, wishing for it, hesitate, and their lives remain the same.
What’s stopping them? They may tell themselves, as you may tell yourself, it’s the money, you’re not ready yet, it’s not the right time, but what’s really stopping them, and you, is fear.
It’s a big, bold move, like paddling out on a big day – can I really do this, will I really like it, is it really possible, for someone like me?
Make a Big, Bold Move and Live the Dream
As with surfing, we need to break our fear down into its separate parts, get specific about each thing we are afraid of. The money? Making new friends? Enjoying it? and examine them, separately, to see if they are founded in truth.
Most of our fears are not. We’ve bought a house before, made friends before, loved the trips we’ve taken, others have done it, and are living the life we want but are too scared to reach for.
Get specific. Find the evidence that disproves the fear, that allows you to face your fears, to tackle them and move forwards, towards your dreams.
Like they did!
Bravery is not the absence of fear, bravery is feeling the fear, and doing it anyway, and as surfers, we know, bravery offers rewards!
And in this case, bravery offers, a lifetime of rewards!
