Costa Rica is home of some of the best and most popular surfing destinations in the world. A lot of people visit this small country just to experience the amazing surf!
Costa Rica is known for its diverse surf conditions and warm water, making it a top surfing destination. The country has five surf zones, each with different types of waves and activity levels:
- North Pacific: Waist-to-head high waves year-round, with big swells from April to October
- Central Pacific – Puntarenas: Miles of undeveloped beaches with swells from December to April
- South Pacific – Golfo Dulce: Large S-SW swells that can reach these beaches in a humid, rainforest climate
- Atlantic Ocean: Large and powerful waves from December to April, plus swells from hurricanes from June to August
- Caribbean coast: Less consistent than the Pacific, but can have great waves during tropical storm months from October to April
