Mexico

Mexico is known as a surfing paradise because of its vast coastline, which offers a variety of surf spots and wave conditions:
  • Wave types
Mexico has many types of waves, including point breaks, reef slabs, beach breaks, and big waves.
  • Wave consistency
The Pacific Coast of Mexico can have powerful, consistent surf. Summer (April–September) also tends to have consistent swells, with the occasional tropical storm swell.
  • Wave difficulty
Depending on the location, you can surf mellow point breaks, heavy beach breaks, or anything in between. Some surf spots offer conditions for all levels. For example, San Pancho has Burros Beach for beginners and intermediate surfers, the main beach for all levels, and La Lancha for reef breaks with powerful waves. Colima also has waves for intermediate and advanced surfers, including Cuyutlán and Pascuales. Cancun is another good place to learn to surf, with warm Caribbean waters, sand bottoms, and gentle beach breaks.
