Surfing in Playas del Coco is really for beginners – there’s not a lot of big waves. The waves at Playas del Coco, Costa Rica are usually smaller, with minimal surf action. While some swells can occasionally produce larger waves; in general it is an easy wave for the “just learning” crew.
You can take a boat trip to Witch’s Rock for world-class surfing or head for one of the other excellent beaches — Playa Negra or Playa Avellenas, south or Tamarindo. Both of these beaches have been featured in surfing movies.
