South Fistral Beach in Newquay, Cornwall is a popular surfing location that’s often considered the best area for beginners. The beach is sheltered from the prevailing swell by the Pentire headland, which makes it calmer than the north end of Fistral Beach. South Fistral is also more sheltered from southwesterly winds and breaks best at mid-tide.
