About This Break

El Paredón is Guatemala’s best-known surf destination, an exposed black-sand beach break on the Pacific coast near Sipacate. Its open exposure to the Pacific gives it a dependable supply of long-period Southern Hemisphere groundswell, with shifting sandbars producing lefts, rights and A-frame peaks along a long stretch of beach. El Paredón as consistent, identifies S–SW/SSW groundswell as the optimum swell source and favors northerly offshore winds.
