Manasquan Inlet is one of the East Coast's legendary jetty waves and a cornerstone of New Jersey surf culture. Incoming Atlantic swell refracts off the Manasquan Inlet jetty and focuses onto shifting sandbars, creating a steep, powerful right-hand wedge with fast walls and hollow barrel sections. Southeast swell is the magic direction, and when combined with offshore west winds and a rising low-to-mid tide, Manasquan can produce exceptional surf capable of rivaling some of the best beach breaks on the East Coast. Its remarkable consistency, powerful hurricane-season surf and long-established surf community make Manasquan a must-know New Jersey wave, although the premier peak is best suited to experienced surfers comfortable with crowds, currents and a competitive lineup.

Rock jetty, powerful rip currents, strong inlet currents, fishing lines and hooks, heavy crowds, experienced local lineup, rapidly shifting sandbars and cold winter water. Larger hurricane and nor'easter swells can produce extremely powerful surf. Parking is also difficult during summer and good swells, and a beach badge is required during guarded summer hours.
