Beng Bengs

Beng Bengs—often shortened to Beng Beng or Bengers—is a playful, highly consistent left-hand reef break in the Playgrounds region of the northern Mentawai Islands. Breaking off the west side of the Masokut/Nyang Nyang area, it is one of the most approachable quality reefs in the Mentawais: a relatively forgiving takeoff leads into a long, rippable wall with repeated opportunities for turns, cutbacks and occasional cover-ups.

Unlike nearby E-Bay, Kandui or Bank Vaults, Beng Bengs usually isn't about heavy barrels. Its deeper, more forgiving reef and predictable shape make it particularly good for intermediate surfers, while advanced surfers can use its long walls for high-performance surfing. It's also a swell magnet, making Beng Bengs a valuable option when many surrounding reefs are undersized.
