About This Break
La Paz is a consistent reef-and-point break in La Libertad on El Salvador's renowned Costa del Bálsamo. Known for long, approachable rides and a mellower character than neighboring Punta Roca, La Paz is an excellent option for surfers looking for quality waves without the intensity of the region's more demanding point breaks. The break responds particularly well to south-southwest groundswells, with north-northeast winds providing the cleanest offshore conditions.
Its combination of consistency, accessibility and relatively forgiving waves makes La Paz suitable for progressing surfers, while larger swells can provide plenty of opportunity for more experienced riders. The lineup can become crowded when conditions are good. Surfers should also be aware of rip currents, rocks, local surfers and occasional water-quality concerns. Located in the heart of the La Libertad surf zone, La Paz provides easy access to an exceptional concentration of nearby breaks.
