Maresias is one of Brazil’s most famous and powerful beach breaks, set beneath the forest-covered mountains of São Sebastião on the north coast of São Paulo state. The exposed sandy beach produces shifting lefts, rights and A-frame peaks, but Maresias is particularly celebrated for its thick, hollow barrels when strong S–SE groundswell meets clean northerly offshore wind.
