Playa Conchalio
El Salvador
About This Break
Conchalio is an exposed beach break along El Salvador’s renowned Costa del Bálsamo, offering both left- and right-hand waves and a different surfing experience from the region’s famous cobblestone point breaks. The beach receives predominantly groundswell and can produce punchy, well-shaped peaks when conditions come together. West swell is identified as the optimum direction, while northeast winds provide the cleanest offshore conditions.
With fairly consistent surf and multiple peaks along the beach, Conchalio provides surfers with opportunities to spread out and find both lefts and rights. When a good swell arrives, however, the lineup can become busy. Strong rip currents are the primary reported hazard, making awareness of conditions important, particularly when the surf increases. Its location near La Libertad also places surfers within easy reach of many of El Salvador’s best-known waves.
