Before you buy beach property in Mexico

Foreigners can own Mexican beachfront, but within 50 km of the coast they do it through a bank trust (fideicomiso) or a Mexican company rather than in their own name. Much of the land around La Saladita was once ejido land, so confirm it has been converted to full private title and registered before you pay anything, and check how the property sits relative to the federal beach zone. Hire an independent local lawyer and notary, and ask for real occupancy and rental figures before you price in any income.
