About This Break

Caballeros is a highly reliable right-hand reef break at the northern end of Punta Hermosa, roughly 40 km south of central Lima. It is one of the standout rights in a part of Peru better known for left-hand waves. The main wave starts with a punchy, sucking takeoff before developing into a long, workable wall over an uneven reef; on good swells, hollow sections appear farther down the line. Surfline notes that it isn't as fast or hollow as some neighboring breaks, but compensates with long rides and exceptional consistency, particularly through the Peruvian winter.

Caballeros is primarily known as a right, but has a left as a secondary option. The signature Caballeros experience, however, is unquestionably the long right-hander. The best working range around 3–8 ft, while larger southern swells can push it beyond that range.
