About This Break

Cabo Blanco is one of Peru’s most legendary waves—a powerful, hollow left-hand point and reef break on the country’s northern coast. Often compared with some of the world's great barreling lefts, Cabo Blanco can produce fast, beautifully shaped tubes that peel across a shallow reef toward the fishing pier. When a strong north-to-northwest groundswell combines with clean offshore winds, the wave becomes a spectacular high-performance barrel offering experienced surfers one of the premier rides in South America.

This is not an easy wave. Cabo Blanco breaks over a shallow, rocky bottom and can be fast, powerful and unforgiving, particularly when the swell increases. The takeoff and barrel sections demand experience and commitment, and crowds can become significant when the forecast is good. For accomplished surfers, however, Cabo Blanco represents one of the crown jewels of northern Peru and an important part of the region's surf culture.
