About This Break
El Ñuro is a quality left-hand reef break on Peru’s wave-rich northern coast, located near the small fishing village of El Ñuro between Los Órganos and Cabo Blanco. Breaking over a submerged rocky reef, the wave offers fast, performance-oriented walls with sections well suited to carving, cutbacks and more progressive surfing. Northwest swell is the preferred direction, while east-southeast winds provide the cleanest offshore conditions.
The break is fairly consistent and generally sees lighter crowds than some of northern Peru’s better-known surf spots. Its combination of warm water, a beautiful coastal setting and proximity to several other quality waves makes El Ñuro an appealing stop for surfers exploring the Máncora–Los Órganos surf corridor. The rocky reef and local lineup require awareness and respect, particularly when surfing at lower water levels.
