About This Break

Las Gaviotas is a well-known right-hand point break along the Pacific coast of Baja California, Mexico, south of Rosarito. Located directly offshore from the Las Gaviotas oceanfront residential community, the wave is celebrated for its long, peeling walls, consistent Pacific swell exposure and opportunities for high-performance surfing.

The rocky point produces clean, organized right-hand waves that wrap along the coastline, offering sections for carving turns, occasional hollow pockets and extended rides when conditions align. Although smaller days can be approachable for intermediate surfers, larger winter swells bring faster, more powerful surf over a rocky reef bottom. Its proximity to oceanfront homes makes Las Gaviotas one of northern Baja's distinctive surf-oriented residential communities.
