Bahia Grande
Bahía Grande, Oaxaca, Mexico
About This Break
Bahía Grande is a remote reef-and-beach-break setup on Oaxaca’s Pacific coast, exposed to the powerful southern swell regime that defines this part of Mexico. The surf zone produces left- and right-hand waves, with long-period S–SW groundswell providing the strongest conditions. Compared with Oaxaca’s established destination breaks, Bahía Grande is much less documented and considerably less trafficked, making its isolation a major part of the appeal.
Conditions are highly dependent on swell size, direction and local bottom configuration. Larger Southern Hemisphere swells can transform the relatively quiet coastline into powerful, fast surf requiring considerably more experience.
For surfers looking to buy, sell or invest along the Oaxaca coast, International Surf Properties connects the global surf community with real estate in the places surfers want to live.
