About This Break

Calafia is a rocky reef and point-style surf break on the Pacific coast of northern Baja California, Mexico, just south of Rosarito. Located near the historic Calafia coastal resort area, the break offers exposed Pacific swell, rocky reef formations and a rugged coastline that makes this stretch of Baja attractive to surfers.

Calafia can produce powerful, well-defined waves with workable faces for carving turns and occasional hollow sections when the swell, wind and tide align. Its rocky bottom and variable currents require more caution than nearby sandy beach breaks. The surrounding Rosarito coastline offers a mix of oceanfront homes, residential developments and easy access to other northern Baja surf spots.
