About This Break
Patole is a quality left-hand point break on the Sinaloa coast of mainland Mexico, prized for its long rides, warm water and relatively uncrowded setting. Located along the surf-rich coastline north of Mazatlán, Patole benefits from the strong south and southwest swells that reach this stretch of coast during the spring, summer and early fall.
When the swell direction and tide line up, the point produces long, clean left-hand walls with multiple sections for carving and generating speed. Smaller days can be approachable for confident intermediate surfers, while larger southern swells bring substantially more power and faster sections that favor experienced surfers.
Patole’s remote, tropical setting is part of its appeal. Compared with Mexico’s major surf destinations, development and crowds remain limited, giving the break a distinctly adventurous mainland-Mexico feel.
