About This Break
San Bartolo – Derechitas is the right-side break at the well-known San Bartolo pier on Playa Norte, roughly 50 km south of Lima. It’s a fun, relatively forgiving wave with a rocky bottom and workable faces that lend themselves to turns, cruising and longboarding. Local surf sources describe the right-side peak as a regional-class wave, generally around 50 meters long, with relatively low power and a broad range of usable swell directions. It is one of the more accessible and consistent waves along this stretch of the Lima coast.

The bottom is rocky, and sea urchins are a known hazard, so surfers should pay attention to entry and exit points. The preferred entry is on the right side of the Playa Norte pier. Peru’s cool Humboldt-influenced water also means wetsuit needs vary seasonally; local guidance suggests a short suit in summer and full suit during winter.
