Barra de Colotepec is the exposed rivermouth break southeast of Puerto Escondido, where the Río Colotepec reaches the Pacific. Unlike La Punta's fixed left or Zicatela's notorious close-range barrels, Barra offers shifting left- and right-hand peaks around the river mouth. Its open exposure makes it exceptionally reliable, while S–SSW groundswell and northerly offshore wind provide the classic setup.
It's generally less famous and less intimidating than Zicatela, making it an appealing option for competent surfers who want Puerto Escondido-area power without committing to Mexican Pipeline.
