About This Break

Carrizalillo is the mellow member of the Puerto Escondido quartet: a beautiful, protected cove northwest of Zicatela where steep headlands shelter the bay from much of the raw Pacific energy. The result is manageable left- and right-hand waves over sand and scattered rocks. Surfline describes smaller Carrizalillo as particularly well suited to beginners, while the protected setup can still produce fun intermediate surf when stronger S–SW swell bends into the bay.

That makes Carrizalillo unusually valuable in an ISP context. Within minutes of one of the world's heaviest waves, surfers have a warm-water cove suitable for learning, longboarding and relaxed sessions.
