About This Break
San Agustín is an exposed but swell-filtered beach break at Bahía San Agustín on the western edge of the Huatulco coastal area. The broad sand beach produces multiple left- and right-hand peaks, but unlike Oaxaca’s highly exposed marquee breaks, San Agustín needs a substantial southern swell to really come alive.
When it works, expect relatively approachable, punchy sand-bottom peaks rather than the extreme barrels associated with Puerto Escondido. Smaller conditions favor longboards and progressing surfers, while chest-high to overhead-plus swell produces better shortboard waves.
