Chacahua

Chacahua is a long, tropical right-hand point/rivermouth wave tucked inside Lagunas de Chacahua National Park on Oaxaca’s remote Pacific coast. The signature wave forms beside the rock jetty at the lagoon entrance, where sand accumulation helps organize incoming southern groundswell into long, peeling rights. Surftrips describes it as a fast, occasionally tubing right, while Stormrider and local guides emphasize the unusually long rides and forgiving sections that make Chacahua dramatically different from the brutal beach breaks around Puerto Escondido.

The main right can offer 150–300 m rides, with softer walls on smaller days and faster, more hollow sections as the swell increases. There are also shorter lefts and beach-break peaks nearby. Chacahua's combination of warm water, long waves, a tiny beachfront village, mangrove lagoons and boat-only access gives it one of the strongest surf-lifestyle identities on the Oaxaca coast.
