About This Break
Midigama Left is a left-hand reef break along Sri Lanka’s wave-rich southern coastline, near the surf village of Midigama. Known for its warm tropical water, peeling left-hand walls, and relatively approachable conditions, the break is part of a concentrated collection of quality surf spots between Weligama and Ahangama.
The wave generally performs best on south to southwest Indian Ocean swells, producing workable shoulders suitable for carving, trimming, and linking turns. On smaller days, conditions can be friendly for intermediate surfers, while larger swells bring faster sections, stronger currents, and more challenging takeoffs.
Midigama’s laid-back surf atmosphere, tropical scenery, and proximity to numerous other breaks make it an attractive destination for traveling surfers and property buyers looking to establish a base on Sri Lanka’s south coast.
