Astillero

El Astillero is a relatively uncrowded beach and rivermouth surf break on Nicaragua's Pacific coast, at the small fishing village of El Astillero in the municipality of Tola. The break produces both lefts and rights, with shifting sandbars and river-mouth influence creating punchy peaks that can become fast and hollow when the banks line up. It sits north of the better-known Tola surf zone around Popoyo, giving surfers a quieter alternative to the region's marquee reefs.
