Icelands Surf Spot

Icelands is one of the Mentawai Islands' most powerful and versatile left-hand reef breaks. Located off northern Sipora, the wave is renowned for its ability to attract swell when neighboring breaks are small and for transforming into a massive, hollow barrel when large Indian Ocean swells arrive.

On smaller days, Icelands produces fun, rippable left-hand walls suitable for confident intermediate surfers. As the swell builds, the wave changes dramatically. Deep-water energy focuses onto the reef, creating thick, powerful walls and enormous barrel sections that can challenge even highly experienced surfers.

Icelands is especially famous for its big-wave potential. When substantial west swells arrive, the outside reef can produce exceptionally large waves with heavy, hollow sections. Its consistency and ability to handle significant swell make Icelands one of the standout waves in the North Sipora region.
