Troncones Beach

Description: Troncones Beach is the long, exposed beach-break zone directly in front of the village of Troncones, on Guerrero's Costa Grande. Unlike nearby Troncones Point / Manzanillo Bay, which is a defined point break, Playa Troncones offers numerous shifting sandbar peaks spread along more than two miles of coastline. Depending on the current banks, surfers can find both lefts and rights, soft A-frame peaks on smaller days, and considerably faster, heavier beach-break surf when Southern Hemisphere swell fills in. A current local guide describes the main beach as having multiple peaks that range from soft and playful to substantially more powerful depending on swell.

Rock formations and submerged boulders along the beach help trap sand and create the banks that give Troncones its distinctive peaky character. That makes the break highly variable: one stretch may be mediocre while a bank a few hundred meters away is producing clean, punchy walls.
