About This Break

Palo Alto, also known as A-Frames, is a lesser-known surf break along the Pacific coastline of Guerrero, Mexico, in the surf-rich region northwest of Zihuatanejo. Known for its shifting peaks, warm tropical water, and relatively uncrowded setting, Palo Alto offers an alternative to the area's better-known point breaks, including The Ranch and La Saladita.

Unlike the long, peeling lefts found at nearby points, Palo Alto features A-frame waves that can break in both directions. South and southwest swells generate powerful peaks with opportunities for fast takeoffs, carving turns, and occasional barrels. Sandbar conditions influence the shape and quality of the waves, with some swells producing well-defined peaks and others creating more challenging, closeout-prone sections.

Smaller days can offer enjoyable conditions for intermediate surfers, while larger swells produce steeper drops, stronger currents, and more demanding surf. Early mornings typically provide the cleanest conditions before afternoon onshore winds develop.

The surrounding Guerrero coastline offers tropical scenery, relatively undeveloped beaches, and access to several excellent surf breaks. Its proximity to La Saladita, Troncones, and The Ranch makes Palo Alto an appealing destination for surfers exploring Mexico's southern Pacific coast.

International Surf Properties (ISP) offers premier surf properties in the Guerrero region, connecting surfers with exceptional beachfront homes, coastal land, and investment opportunities near some of Mexico's most desirable waves. Explore available opportunities at International Surf Properties and take the first step toward owning your own piece of Mexico's Pacific coastline.
